Food & Drink

Our Mission statement is to be the best foodie wedding venue in the North.

We were thrilled to win Best Venue North in the English Wedding Awards after our busy 2018 season. This award covers North East, North West and Yorkshire, we were all thrilled that our hard work had paid off.

Every member of our team is here because they love what they do and all anyone wants is to help you realise your vision for your day. It doesn’t need to be stressful. We take care of every detail on the day so that you relax and enjoy yourselves.

Here we have put some of our popular menus, we can also work with you to prepare different dishes to fit your budget.

  • Canapés are such a treat, we love them and spend quite a bit of time each Winter developing new ideas.
  • You are best to choose around 3 cold and two hot. Here are a few of couples’ favourites:
  • Pork cheek bon bon
  • Hot Northumberland Mini Sausages in local Honey and Mustard, served warm
  • Mini Yorkshires with Roast beef and horseradish OR pulled lamb shoulder
  • Potato skins with Paprika, Aioli
  • Balsamic Tomato and Vallum Pesto Tartlette (v)

Your wedding is a celebration to be shared with your family and friends; a special day to catch up with the people in your lives & the introduction of your new families.

At Vallum, we offer a selection of Feasting boards designed to get people talking as they help themselves to the sharing waitressed to your table. The Feasting option price includes dessert.

We recommend feasts are preceded by canapés or the chefs can develop a bespoke sharing starter to compliment your main.

Our extensive vintage afternoon tea service has been carefully collected from friends, families and antique shops. The tables look beautiful with the different colours of teacups, saucers and tea plates.

Afternoon Tea is presented on triple layer afternoon tea stands with our delicious sandwiches, Sausage Rolls, Cakes, Scones and endless Northumbrian Tea.

Don’t worry, we’ll keep your guests fully fuelled for a night on the dance floor. Some popular options are:

  • Beef Burger Sliders
  • Kebab Kid
  • Dirty Wedges
  • Pulled Pork Artisan Rolls
  • Barn Butties
  • Stone-Baked Pizza

Our chefs have a wealth of experience in fine dining. The bespoke menu is exactly that… a menu designed between you and our chefs to give your optimum dining experience.

Menus are distinctly seasonal. You will explore what is at its best with our chefs and we invite you to a tasting in our mini dining room.

This works best for more intimate weddings as we can really go to town on skills and ideas.

At Vallum you can either ask us to supply the wines or you can opt to bring your own. The latter is called ‘corkage’ and the different prices are outlined in the adjoining price list.

How it works

When we supply the drinks, you are invited to Vallum for a Wine Tasting. We help you match the wine to your menu and on the day we keep the drinks flowing. There is no limit to what people can drink.

When you opt for corkage we charge a one-off fixed price per drinks per head. Service works exactly the same way as when we serve our own wines. All you need to do is deliver your drinks to us the day before your wedding and we take care of everything else.

Any leftover drinks are collected the next day.

Welcome drinks are served for one hour after your arrival or after your ceremony, table wines are served with your main course and we offer to top up glasses before the main course plates are cleared, toasting drinks are filled just before the speeches, which are usually made after desserts are served.

We always make sure our own bar is open too so you are covered on all bases!
